Don’t Wait to Scrapbook Your Memories
I recently returned from an incredible trip to the Pacific Coast and Alaska, and I learned something important about memory keeping that I would like to share with you. Maybe this sounds exactly like your current situation. Perhaps you have an exciting trip planned for this summer or fall. Whatever the case may be, I hope this message strikes a chord and encourages you to capture those memories while they’re still fresh. 🙂
For years, I had the mindset that I needed to finish scrapbooking my older trips before allowing myself to start a new one. I’ve been slowly working through two amazing adventures—a 2019 land tour of Thailand and a three-day getaway to Venice before boarding a Windstar Cruises cruise to the Dalmatian Coast. Because of that, my more recent adventures often got pushed to the back burner while I tried to “catch up” on everything else.
This time, I’m doing things differently. Instead of waiting until all my previous trips are completed, I’m giving myself permission to scrapbook my Pacific Coast and Alaska memories right now—while the experience is still fresh in my mind. This is a layout that is kicking it off which I shared on my Facebook Page. If you would like to read all about the details of this SLIDE page, click this link. You may get inspired!
There’s something special about creating pages when the details are still vivid. I can still hear the sounds of the ocean, picture the breathtaking Alaskan scenery, and remember the little moments that made the trip unforgettable. Those tiny details—the ones that often fade with time—bring so much life to scrapbook pages.
Scrapbooking isn’t about completing everything in perfect chronological order. It’s about preserving the stories that matter.
By working on this trip now, I can capture not just the photos, but the emotions, the laughter, the surprises, and the joy of the journey. I can journal meaningful details before they slip away.

- I’m learning that memory keeping doesn’t need rigid rules.
- It’s okay to skip around.
- It’s okay to work on what inspires you.
- It’s okay to choose joy over perfection.

If you’ve been holding off on documenting a recent trip because you feel like you need to “finish the backlog” first, consider this your encouragement to start now.
- Pull out those photos.
- Print those memories.
- Tell those stories.
- Your memories deserve to be documented while they’re still fresh and full of life.
- My Pacific Coast and Alaska adventure was too special to wait.
Honestly, I’m so glad I’m not waiting. I’ve been extremely motivated to get my memories down on paper and in an album of this fabulous vacation. I’m more exciting now about it then I would be a year or two from now!
Here’s a very helpful tip that worked like a charm for me:
If you’re finding these ideas helpful and would like to see the details behind each layout I completed, I’d love to invite you to visit my Facebook Business Page — Lynn Como, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator — by clicking the link HERE.
- Be sure to scroll through the posts (there could be 7 or 8 of them) while they’re still near the top (especially if you’re reading this now and not a month from now!).
- Each day, I’ve been sharing the BEFORE and AFTER of each layout. The BEFORE shows the original layouts I created back in January, and the AFTER shows those same pages transformed with my Pacific Coast and Alaska photos, along with memories and journaling.
- Along the way, I’ve added titles, journaling, flip flaps, and occasionally made small changes to the original layout to better tell the story.
- Be sure to read the posts and the captions beneath each photo to get the full details and gather the most inspiration. If you really are loving it all, this kit may be for you:

Love it! What a fabulous idea. And as I read your post, it makes perfect sense to scrap it while it’s fresh in your head and memory. This way, some trips, adventures, or events will get put into the album right away. The pictures and notes from older trips etc. are still there. I do journal when I go places and our handy phones document where we are and the date. So helpful. Not like the old days when you had to develop your film right away.
Thanks for sharing that 🙂
Hi Lori! I’m so glad you found this tip helpful. I couldn’t agree with you more about ALL of it! Having our phones to document things right away is a game change from the old days. I hope you enjoy the Summer Season and scrap your heart out with loving memories, especially with your grandchildren. Love it!

Thank you for giving me permission to scrap my latest trip before I’ve finished the one from 2 years ago!!
Oh my gosh, you are so welcome! You are going to feel jubilation, excitement and FREEDOM! I hope you enjoy it while it’s fresh in your mind. I think you will be surprised at how much faster the process goes for you! Enjoy!
